Not all artists live in lofts in New York, you know.
So after a discussion this morning with Laura and Susannah I’m going to come up with ways of coping living in a tiny town where no one ever/rarely buys/looks at your paintings/drawings.
1. Each morning on arrival at studio, cry briefly, then have a coffee with Laura and/or Susannah and discuss goal of the day.
For example, my goal today was to finish this drawing.
I didn’t finish it.
However, I made good headway, had lunch at Cafe on the Green and then a brief sleep on my sofa.
Today’s good thing was a long skype discussion with my cousin, Octavia, (designer of the Houndbag) who lives in Jan Juc, Australia.
She was in her office below her house and, as we spoke, was phoning her children who were upstairs, to bring her down glasses of white wine.
They brought them.
I admire how well she has those children trained.
