Today’s good thing was more than an hour spent with my friend, Laura, at cafe Nero. There were only 2 staff members and the line was long.
'Where are all the staff?' I ask the trainee barista.
'They've all called in sick,' he says and then tells me he's scalded his arm.
'Put ice in a tea towel and wrap it on your arm.' I tell him.

But later I see him running it under the cold tap.
