This afternoon while I was waiting in the waiting room of the doctors’ surgery to get my ears syringed, a woman and man exited the hallway where the doctors’ offices are.
The man was leading the woman by the hand.
The woman, with a transparent plastic tube stuck up her nose, was dragging some kind of oxygen device behind her.

A few minutes later, as the nurse began to pump my ears, she said-Tell me if it starts to hurt.
At one point during the procedure, it did hurt.
'Ouch,' I said.
'Ooh, sorry,' the nurse said, looking into my ear with her ear looking equipment, 'there's a bit of irritation in your ear canal,'
'Well,' I said, handing her back the metal container I'd held under my ear to catch water from the pump, 'at least it isn't cancer,'
'Nope,' the nurse said back to me as she took the container, 'it sure isn't.'
