Back in the UK now, I watched a documentary on the plane over called Immortality, about the findings of among others, Professor Elizabeth Blackburn.
The documentary discusses something called telomere – a small DNA cap at the end of each chromosome, which protects our DNA from damage.
It was described in the documentary as like that piece of plastic on the end of a shoe lace
I’m not scientific so I won’t try to discuss or explain, but there has been a lot of death recently of people I know, culminating in my mother’s a month ago.
So basically I’d quite like to get my hands on some of this ‘enzyme, telomerase, which fixes up the telomeres and rejuvenates our DNA.
In the meantime, I’m drawing this book on death, or the people I know who have died.
