During the day I never hear my phone ring.
That’s because at night I put it on silent and then forget to turn off the silent.
Despite this I’m always indignant when someone emails me or tells me later in the day when they see me in the flesh that they have tried to call.

'I didn't hear the phone ring,' I say, and frown, 'I don't think this phone works properly. Fucking iPhones.'
